You are already aware that millions of people in developing countries suffer and die each year from poor health and preventable illnesses.

Malnutrition, diarrhoea, polio and HIV/AIDS are some of the threats people can face daily. The Action Health Trainer Programme recognises that the problems of poverty, underdevelopment and ill health are interrelated and complex and that they cannot be regarded as someone else's problem. The rich and poor countries of the world are interdependent and health is an international issue with global implications.

Action Health believes that there is a solution to these problems: skills transfer. The professional skills that people in this country have acquired can be passed onto others.

What makes Action Health different?

  • We are a specialist health organisation, set up and largely facilitated by health professionals
  • We work for long-term sustainable development in partnership with the people of India, Tanzania and Uganda.
  • We only work when our assistance has been requested
  • Our Trainers share their skills so a tangible and sustainable difference can be made by local people.

Our projects are set up as partnerships with the organisations that have approached us for assistance.

We do not implement projects directly but take a proactive approach to ensure that potential partners are aware of what we can offer.

Each partnership is developed through extensive planning, with local sustainability and Action Health's withdrawal the ultimate conclusion.

In the partnership, our role is to provide skills training to local staff and to promote the use of locally available resources that can be managed by the community after our partnership ends.

We believe ...

  • That people really can make changes for the better
  • That no one should suffer unnecessarily from ill health and preventable diseases
  • That we should help people to develop long-term solutions to problems
  • That sharing skills and knowledge will develop self reliance and bring long-term benefits.
