Building Awareness - Education

Through our development awareness activities, we aim to change attitudes and build a more equitable world. We want to equip people with the information they need to make informed decisions that affect individuals and communities, locally and globally.

Skillshare International brings an international development perspective to development education in the UK.  Our support focuses on curriculum development and capacity building for organisations and institutions working in development education, including the East Midlands Network for Global Perspectives in Schools (EMNGPS) and its members, the Development Education Association (DEA) and UK One World Linking Association (UKOWLA). 

By supporting these organisations and contributing to activities organised in partnership with other education providers such as Development Education Centres (DEC), we create opportunities for our returned development workers to take an active role in development education and share their own personal experience of international development.

To enable our contributions to development education to go further, we are also involved in practice, research and networking via:

• Our work with Development Education Centres in the UK.
• Leadership Practices in Lifelong Learning in a Global Society research project.
• Southern Voices network, which aims to enhance development education by enabling education professionals from developing countries to share their experiences and knowledge in the UK.
