Katie raring to return to Edinburgh to Make Poverty
History
On 28th June, Skillshare International's Katie Junor,
23, swapped her mountain bike for a road bike. She
set off on a 240-mile cycle to her home city of Edinburgh
to join the Make Poverty History rally on Saturday
July 2nd.
Before setting off, Katie said "I'm really looking
forward to setting off but I think the climb up over
the Pentland hills will be quite a shock to the system
after training in the gentle Leicestershire countryside.
I just hope my legs will hold up for the march on
Saturday!"
Thousands gathered in Edinburgh on 2nd July demanding
trade justice, debt cancellation, and more and better
aid for the world's poorest countries.
Skillshare International's Jonny Gutteridge (Supporter
and Campaigns Co-ordinator) travelled to Edinburgh
with more than 20 of Skillshare International's staff
and supporters. He said "Whether going by bike
or bus we're determined to be there to Make Poverty
History. Every day 30,000 children die as a result
of extreme poverty and we have a chance to tell our
leaders that it's unacceptable."
Katie's cycle to Edinburgh took her through North
Yorkshire, Durham and Northumberland in to Lothian.
