What's cooking?

Thank you for getting involved! We're delighted that you're taking part in What’s Cooking? and we're hoping that together we can raise funds to support the important work with our partners in Africa and Asia.

Here's some information that you might find useful when planning your What's cooking? dinner party.

1. Choose one of our tasty meat or veggie recipes from around the world - as recommended by our development workers, staff and supporters. Or, if there's something else you would prefer to cook for your guests, prepare that instead.

2. Set the date. What's cooking? dinner parties are taking place around the globe 23rd- 30th November, but if that's not convenient, simply choose another time that works best for you.

3. Invite your guests - we suggest 6-8 people for your dinner party but invite as many as you'd like to cook for!

4. Remember to tell your guests in advance that they will each be asked to make a donation to Skillshare International - we're suggesting £10 or more. The easiest way for most people to give is on our Justgiving.com page - and if you're a UK taxpayer you can giftaid your donation so that we can claim back the tax. The money that you raise will make a huge difference to the lives of individuals and communities across Africa and India.

5. Spread the good news! Register your dinner party with us - we'd love to know when you're holding your event and what you'll be cooking for your guests. Send an email to Katie at supporters@skillshare.org

6. Get cooking! Have a great night and enjoy the flavours brought to you by our friends around the world.

The money that you raise will support a range of projects, such as combating human trafficking in India, providing clean water for children in Kenya, and enabling women in Swaziland to earn enough money to send their children to school.

If you have any questions, please contact Katie at supporters@skillshare.org or on 0116 254 1862.

Elaine cooked an Indonesian meal for colleagues in return for pledges to Skillshare International.

In 2007, Elaine raised over £50 by preparing an Indonesian lunch for some of her workmates.

We've created three postcards showing how we're supporting chilli farmers in Swaziland, artisans in India and fishermen in Mozambique. If you'd like to show your guests how their donations will contribute to real social change, why not print out a couple for your dinner party.

For further information about Skillshare International you can download our 2008-9 annual review which has more examples of our partners and programmes.

After your party, why not send us some photos and let us know how it went. If your guests preferred to give you their donation on the night, you can send a cheque to us at Skillshare International, 126 New Walk, Leicester, LE1 7JA, UK.
